The South Philly Food Co-op believes that good food should be accessible to all, and that member-ownership should be available to anyone committed to supporting the Co-op. Our Community Equity Fund is designed to give everyone, regardless of economic situation, an opportunity to become a member-owner and participate in the governance of the Co-op.
How it works:
- Those indicating that they do not have the means to pay $200 in equity* shall have the opportunity to join the Co-op with a minimum payment of $5 at the time of registration.
- Individuals or households may determine the amount of equity they can afford to invest over a five-year period; a payment plan will be established to invest the declared equity in monthly or yearly installments.
- The Community Equity Fund will subsidize the remaining balance of the member-owner’s $200 equity investment
*The Co-op will not require documentation of income status for eligibility.
