What's your name? Jennifer Hombach
Why is the Co-op important to you? I am excited about the impacts we can have for all of our neighbors, amplifying and supporting the richness of the diversity and food culture already present in South Philly, ensuring accessibility for all folks, and supporting our efforts to be “more than just a store."
When did you join, and (if applicable), how have you been involved? I joined the Co-op in August 2018, and since then have been working diligently on the Outreach and Marketing committees to bring an authenticity, enthusiasm and creativity to the Co-op’s operations. I believe I could strengthen the board by way of deepening my own engagement with a more holistic understanding of our operations.
How will your experience, skills, or unique perspectives strengthen the Co-op board? I am obsessed with sustainability, I love to eat nutritiously, and since 2006, I’ve lived in South Philly. These few square miles of concrete jungle are my stomping grounds of choice, and as someone who dreams about a Just Transition to a Regenerative Economy on a global scale, the South Philly Food Co-op is perhaps the most tangible means by which my neighborhood is manifesting the community-powered, justice-conscious, benefit-sharing principles of New Economics!
