Join us Tuesday, October 23, for a special edition of our twice-annual General Membership Meeting! Come for the State of the Co-op and other exciting announcements, and stay for our Community Fair, where you can meet South Philly business owners and community organizations, purchase food and (non-alcoholic) drinks from local vendors, and get to know the folks who make up the fabric of our neighborhood.
Childcare will be provided, thanks to Philly Childcare Collective!
Local Food & Drink Vendors (pay as you go; 20% of all proceeds will be donated to the Co-op):
- Comfort & Floyd: Grilled Cheese / Tomato Soup / Lemon Tartlet ($10)
- Really Reel Ginger: Delicious Ginger Drinks
- Sweet T's Bakery & Snack Shop: Sweet Potato Pies, Cupcakes, Banana Pudding, Iced Teas and Lemonade ($2-$5)
- Authentic Ethnic Cuisine: Platters of Fried Fish or Smothered Chicken with Rice, String Beans, and Mac n Cheese ($10)
The State of the Co-op: Our formal program, from 6:30 to 7 p.m., will cover major Co-op news and updates on our Capital Campaign (peep this recent South Philly Review piece for a sneak peek!), our brand-new Community Equity Fund that will work to ensure that all South Philadelphians can be a part of the Co-op, and much more.
Bylaw Amendment Voting: The Board of Directors believes that the inability to attend a meeting in person should not preclude a member-owner from having their voice heard by the Co-op. To allow for our external voting process to be more accessible and inclusive in the future, and to streamline our internal voting procedures, the Board is in favor of voting "yes" on a number of bylaw changes relating to online vs. in-person voting. Click here to learn more about these proposed amendments, or click here to review our current bylaws.
There'll be plenty of time before and after the formal program to grab delicious foods, chat with your neighbors, and learn more about some awesome community organizations, including:
- Southeast by Southeast
- Grassroots Advocacy for South Philadelphia
- Philly Healthy Schools Initiative
- Novick Family Urban Farm
PLUS, raffle prizes from Jig-Bee Farm Fresh Flowers and Six Fishes Acupuncture!
Don't forget: You don't have to be a member-owner to attend. All are welcome.
