Baba's BrewBaba's Brew

Started in Philadelphia, PA in 2015

In 2015, Baba's Brew's founder Olga Sorzano started her own kombucha brewing company after not being able to find high-quality kombucha in the area. As a young girl growing up in Siberia 35 years ago, she learned the art of brewing farm-tobottle seasonal kombucha with her great-grandmother, Baba.

Now, Baba's Brew only uses real, locally-grown, seasonal, and organic fruits, berries, herbs, and spices to infuse their brew. Their goal is to change the way people drink by providing healthy, nutritious, low sugar kombucha made with real ingredients, and no BS.

In her first career as a trading analyst, she realized that even on Wall Street, it was hard to access nutritious food. She would bring her own “mush” to work, inspired by her favorite “hack” as a kid: cereal and oatmeal soaked in milk. The company has grown rapidly from its early days when Ashley would sell small handmade batches at local farmers markets in San Diego. Today, MUSH is the leading brand in its category.

The Jawnery
LOCAL | WOMEN OWNED

The Jawnery is more than just a bakery – it’s a creative venture fueled by passion, community, and the pursuit of high-quality baked goods. To them, food is more than just something to eat; it’s an experience to be enjoyed and, in the best cases, shared with friends, both new and old.

At the heart of it all is a mother-daughter duo: Cassidy, a culinary artist with a knack for innovation, and her mother, Sara, the mastermind behind the business’s signature pie fillings and fruit-forward creations.

What started as a passion for croissants has expanded to a seasonally rotating menu, keeping products exciting with fresh flavors and local produce. The Jawnery bakes the way they like to eat – with variety, care, and the best ingredients they can find.

THREE WISHES
WOMAN-OWNED
CEREAL
---
Margaret and Ian Wishingrad were new parents looking for healthy finger food for their child. They loved cereal, but soon realized that most cereal is just dessert masquerading as breakfast. So, they created anew kind of cereal, one made from nutrient-dense ingredients, not commodity grains like wheat, rice, corn and oats. The best part? It still tastes incredible without being loaded with sugar, and you can pack in the protein without cracking an egg.

JYOTI Natural FoodsJYOTI Natural Foods

Started in Crosby, Texas in 1979
(and is now in Sharon Hill, PA)

JYOTI Natural Foods was founded as a pioneering venture to produce, package and supply high quality, ready to eat, nutritious Indian foods. The company was founded by Vijai and Jyoti Gupta. Equipped with a graduate degree in Nutrition, Jyoti developed vegetarian recipes that used only fresh ingredients and no preservatives. She began creating recipes in her kitchen and eventually began mini-batch production with regional co-packers.

What began as a mail order business soon grew into a retail product and Jyoti began making one of the first lines of shelf-stable, ready to eat Indian foods available on grocery shelves in the United States.
