It's that time again, cooperators: Please join us Thursday, May 23 for a very special edition of our twice-annual general membership meeting! Here's why this one's oh-so-special:
- We'll be recapping some fantastic recent events, including the most momentous fête of them all, our April 18 Groundbreaking Celebration. We'll also provide the state of the Co-op (which, in case you haven't heard, is pretty amazing, now that we've officially reached our fundraising goal to start construction!).
- We'll give a warm welcome to our general manager, Lori Burge! Lori brings an incredible wealth of experience, passion and boots-on-the-ground gusto to the position, and we couldn't be more lucky to have her at the helm as we prepare to open our doors later this year.
- We're voting in new members of our Board of Directors! With 12 candidates and only six open slots, this is our most hotly contested election ever, so please take the time to read up on all the candidates so you can make an informed decision. (Yes, you'll be able to vote online this time! Stay tuned for details.) Note: If you'd prefer to mail in a ballot instead of voting in person on May 23 or online, you may download this ballot and follow its instructions.
- And we'll hear from the author of the new book Grocery Story: The Promise of Food Co-ops in the Age of Grocery Giants. In Grocery Story, Jon Steinman shines the light on the long and steady work of consumer-owned food co-ops and their relentless and remarkable work to remain relevant and impactful in their communities even in the age of modern chain grocery giants.
As always, our general membership meetings are free, open to the public, and include some refreshments! You do not need to be a member-owner to attend, so if you're co-op-curious, please stop by! Kids are welcome, too.
