Cameron Adamez | Front End Manager

Cameron (they/them) is the Front End + Owner Services Manager for the South Philly Food Co-op. Born and raised in South Texas, their previous life was a web developer and advocate for underrepresented minorities in technology in Portland, Oregon. Their work there was centered around open hardware standards and integrating technology into art practices as well as mentoring women and People of Color in IT.

Cameron became interested in both urbanism and grocery stores after living in suburban Colorado where they first started working in grocery. They have since then worked for several years at two nationally-known grocery retail stores and found their passion in community-owned grocery co-ops, which led them to South Philly Food Co-op and the Philly Co-op movement. Cameron is currently participating in the 2020 Cooperative Leadership Intensive, a Cohort for Cooperators of Color, a program run by Philadelphia Area Cooperative Alliance.

Prior to joining our paid staff, Cameron served as a key volunteer member of SPFC's Outreach + Events Committee, promoting the Co-op in the community, recruiting member-owners, and assisting with membership tech solutions. As a member of our Basics Box coordinating team, they worked to support procedures development for online store operations, distribution, and pick-up. One of their goals is to ensure our front end staff create a shopping environment that is safe and welcoming to all.
