After graduating from University of Arts, Lauren (she/her) was pursuing a career as an artist when she was diagnosed with MS. This caused her to radically change her diet and become interested in healthy eating and the power food has on the body.
It was by chance that CreekSide Co-op was opening down the street from Lauren. It was actually her mom who said, "you should get a job at that co-op," to which she replied, "what's a co-op"? Lauren immediately fell in love with the cooperative model, values, and, especially, the people. After working her way from part time produce stocker to assistant store manager over 6 years, they sadly closed their doors. That's when she ended up at Kensington Community Food Co-op. She was there the past 3.5 years as operations manager and, most recently, as interim GM until July 2022.
Lauren is excited to now be joining the South Philly Food Co-op team and can't wait to meet all the new faces!
