The Urban League of Greater Philadelphia
Since 1917, the Urban League of Greater Philadelphia has worked alongside communities to close equality gaps and expand opportunity. As an affiliate of the National Urban League, they combine local credibility with national reach—providing direct services, data-informed programs, and advocacy that move people toward social parity, economic self-reliance, power, and civil rights.
Their legacy includes championing homeownership, preparing youth for college and careers, connecting jobseekers to family-sustaining employment, supporting returning citizens, advancing small business growth, improving community health, and protecting the right to vote.
In 2025, they expanded to serve 10 counties across Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey, scaling proven models in education, workforce, housing, health, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement so more residents can thrive. ULGP is growing by design—grounded in community voice, accountable to outcomes, and aligned with a national network committed to empowerment and equity.
Their Mission is to help Black Americans and other historically underserved people achieve true social parity, economic self-reliance, power, and civil rights. they advance economic empowerment through youth education and job training, housing and community development, workforce development and reentry, entrepreneurship, health equity, and quality of life initiatives.
Their purpose is to dismantle barriers to equity and expand opportunity so individuals and families can thrive. the recent expansion to serve 10 counties across Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey strengthens access to housing, jobs, education, entrepreneurship, health, and civic participation where people live and work—scaling what works for greater regional impact.
