David Thompson (he/him/they) is the Produce Manager/Buyer of South Philly Food Co-op. David grew up in Sarasota, Florida and his first job was at the age of 14 at local burger joint Cheeburger Cheeburger. Since then he has worked in grocery stores and restaurants in a variety of roles.
He is passionate about food equity, sustainable food practices, and democratic workplaces. He is moving on from his role at Mariposa Food Co-op as Produce Buyer. He is excited to bring his experience and knowledge to the South Philly Food Co-op and to help start something special.
When he's not hauling large volumes of produce across the store or on the phone finding the best fruits and veggies in the local market, you can find him riding his bicycle all over the greater Philadelphia area and in bike races (when those come back some day). He has two cats that he raises with his energetic, beautiful, and effervescent partner.
