Wine & Cheese Class with Madame Fromage

On Sunday, November 3, the Co-op welcomes diva of dairy Madame Fromage, aka Tenaya Darlington, to South Philadelphia for an exploration of the perfect holiday wine and cheese pairings. You’ll walk away an expert on how to craft your own winter cheese plate – and how to select the perfect wines to match! Here, Tenaya tells you more about this party idea here on her blog.

SPECIAL OFFER: Get an autographed copy of Tenaya’s new book with your ticket for $10 off retail price! Reserve your tickets & discounted book on our event page here.

Here’s how it will work: you bring the wine and we’ll provide the class, cheese and snacks. Tenaya asks that you bring one (or more!) of the following types of wine:

  • something bubbly (e.g. champagne or prosecco)
  • a big-bodied red (e.g. merlot or cabernet sauvignon)
  • a sweet wine (e.g. port/madeira or riesling)

We’ll have a station for each style featuring two cheeses to pair with it. Come prepared to share your bottle so that you can sample from the other stations as well! Tenaya will provide us with a lesson on perfect pairings based on the selection of winter-themed cheeses she’s chosen. Then we’ll have some time to mix, mingle and talk cheese with Tenaya.

Available ticket types:
Ticket Only: $30
Ticket Plus Autographed Copy of Di Bruno Bros. House of Cheese: $45
Purchase your tickets here before this awesome event sells out!

And the best part: all proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Co-op! We hope you’ll join us for the perfect start to a great holiday season.

About Madame Fromage
Tenaya is a Swiss citizen and former resident of Wisconsin, two things that ensured she would grow up to be a cheese fiend. By day, she teaches Food Writing at Saint Joseph's University; by night she pens her dairy-centric blog, Madame Fromage. In 2011, Zagat named her one of the 140 most important foodies to follow on Twitter (@mmefromage). Tenaya’s work has appeared in Cooking Light, Culture, Grid, Global Traveler, and Utne Magazine. In May 2013, Running Press published her first cheese book, Di Bruno Bros. House of Cheese: A Guide to Wedges, Recipes, and Pairings. She is also a resident contributor on the Di Bruno Bros. blog. More details on her new book here.
